Wrights of Howth which is placed in the northern part of Dublin is established in 1892.

The craft has been passed down through the generations and little has changed.

They still fillet the fish by hand and cure using only natural sea salt and smoke each fish for eight hours using pure oak chippings which give their products it’s world renowned flavour.

Their salmon is on the market at Dublin airport (tax free) for a long time so it is well known company in Ireland.

In addition, they won Great Taste Awards in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer.

What's the difference between "Organic" & "farmed"?

There are 3 main differences.

Firstly, the fish are nourished with a diet containing only organic approved natural ingredients from sustainable sources, with fish meal and oil derived from the trimmings of fish caught for human consumption.  All ingredients are free from genetically modified organisms.

Secondly, organic farmed salmon are reared in large pens which allow them to follow their natural shoaling behaviour, pens contain less than 10 kilo per cubic metre – less than half that of conventional farms.

Finally, the organic production sites are continuously flushed with clean water, preventing any build-up of parasites or pollutants. This natural, healthy environment and low population density allows the fish to develop good muscle tone and body shape. Marine Harvest Ireland has a leading expertise in breeding organic salmon, which is a high-value market which shows strong growth, especially in Europe.
